Thank you for visiting Steve Cole Photography. My photography focuses on the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington and Oregon. From old growth forests to rugged mountains, the Cascade Mountains are a photographer’s paradise. My favorite places to explore and photograph are the Mount Baker region and Glacier Peak Wilderness in the North Cascades of Washington State.
A camera has never been too far from my reach and it all began when my dad gave me a Pentax 35mm film camera as a child. Earlier in my life, my photography simply documented my experiences with nature. Today, my photography drives my love of nature. I now head out in rainy or snowy weather hoping for those dramatic scenes that most people purposely avoid. To me, photography makes every day a good day to head out and experience nature.
My favorite places to photograph are the Mount Baker region and Glacier Peak Wilderness in the North Cascades. The mix of rugged rock, snow fields, and flower-filled meadows are sights that I never get tired of witnessing. My eye is also drawn to more intimate scenes involving the native flora of the Pacific Northwest. Lastly, I am also intrigued by the arrival of winter across the landscape and how it can completely transform it into something very foreign and new.
To the extent possible, my photography accurately represents the world I experience using digital cameras. My photographs do experience some level of post-processing in order to fix things such as dust on the lens or an uneven exposure across the scene. I do not, however, manipulate my photographs in order to embellish them or add any additional dramatic effect. Details about ordering prints can be found on my Ordering Info page. I invite you to take a look at my photography and experience a world that is closer than you think!
